A smooth arrangement of curves and friendly feathers gliding effortlessly on the water.
Very calm water.
And very very boring.
The fact is it’s damn hard to paddle.
Swans work hard to glide on the surface like royalty.
The deep dark shadows hide the tragic terror of their preditators*.
I put the brush down and start smearing the paint with my fingers. Harsh edges shape her neck and rough up her feathers.
Crashing colors tell the whole story.
She has been through a lot but she can endure a lot more.
