Alaskan Raven Studio

A painting is more than color on canvas—it’s a portal.

Not just into the artist’s world, but into your own.

A painting should stop you.
Stir you.
Remind you who you are when the world forgets.

A blaze of emotion. A hush of wilderness.
A memory you never lived—but somehow remember.

Make the canvas of your home your haven, your world, your masterpiece.

Your home isn’t a showroom.
It’s your soul with a roof on it.

Make it fierce.
Make it fearless.
Make it yours.

Let your walls hold more than paint.
Let them hold meaning.

Be wild. Stay wild.

A portrait paints a mood, a moment. It dares you to look closer. Portraits speak in silence.

Blue-clawed Claude?

Wonder Lake shimmers quiet inside Denali Park. Two ravens stroll, shadows in sync. Nothing excites more wild than a bear.

Rambunctious ravens and a bear rambling...

You say you can’t draw a straight line.

Excellent. You’re on the right path. A creative line curves and trembles with emotion and purpose. It feels the form and wants to be playful, delicate or yell in boldness. The lines you leave out often  speak the loudest because the viewer fills them in where they want them. Their participation is engagement with the experience you are sharing. It makes an important connection with them. Connections are compelling. Straight lines have a purpose but not in your sketchbook. Express yourself with a line that twists with surprises. Join us in experiencing the joy of creativity. Lose track of time and become absorbed in your creation. Draw wildly.

What is wild?
What does it mean? Wild is untamed. Unrestrained. Unbroken. Wild can even be unruly. A little rough. Unpredictable. Wild is a strong emotion. Enthusiastic. Excited. Sometimes fierce. Wild is that uninhabited place that others don’t know about. Wild knows how to live. It conquers obstacles. Fights dragons. Wild thinks the impossible is do-able. Dreams wonderful dreams. Wild can do it. Wild will do it. Wild is doing it. Consider the wild card. The wild card can do anything. It can break the rules. It is the rule. The wild card has more power. More versatility. More possibilities. It is the card you want. Everyone wants it. Wild is wonderful. We all need wild in our life.
Do you want a little wild or a lot?
Be wild. Stay wild.

Paintings and their story

Mt. Denali & Wonder Lake

September in Denali Park at 6:15 p.m. Colors dance and the evening summer sun spotlights the mountain. Wonder Lake is the place to be in autumn. After a long trip on the shuttle bus, my legs were stiff and I was tired but what a sight to welcome me to the heart of Denali Park. […]

Suddenly, Bear!

Suddenly, Bear20″ x 20″ Kroma acrylic on canvaspainting by Raven You never know when a bear might show up. You imagine one behind every bush. But then, suddenly there is a bear. A large grizzly. My stomach turned. My husband yelled and waved his arms. I was surprised to see a look of fear in […]

more about Raven

I ventured to Alaska before there was an oil pipeline and fell in love with the gnarly spruce trees, intense weather and mountains I could touch. Very different from the landscape in St. Louis. I was looking for different. The spruce trees: those scraggy, wizened, lanky conifers danced onto the first page of my sketch […]
